Project 3 - Pivoting on the Demo

During the second week of project 3 we were required to have a playable prototype of our game on both the Monday and the Wednesday. Due to unforeseen personal circumstances i was not only out of contact with my team member for most of the time but i was also unable to help. During the Tuesday night after the embarrassment of not having something to show i found some time to work on something for our game. Instead of following the Unity Event driven idea we were planning on following due to time constraints i was able to create a quick tech demo of how the game would play using the Unity Physics engine. The only reason i didn’t use the previously planned unity event system was the lack of time to work on them and lack of communication with my team mate. This lead me to pivot the games style entirely so that we would at least have something to show for ourselves. The scripting behind what i made will be detailed in an upcoming dev diary entry. A screenshot of the prototype can be seen below.

After wednesday thankfully my teammate had also been diligently working towards the event driven game. We were able to rejoin and fuze the two versions of the game we had made which allowed me to pivot back onto that path and get the CSV parser working for the team. This enabled my team mate to put the final pieces of the game together as best he could alone and give us a chance to show something. Although it was only a small change in direction and one which was eventually pointless as we collaborated on the game it at the very least gave us something to get feedback on through playtesting.
